ELDER FOCUS'S DEPETRIS AWARDED CERTIFIED CASE MANAGER ACCREDITATION

Monterey, CA - Elder Focus, LLC proudly announces that their Executive Director, Jacquie DePetris, LCSW has been awarded the Certified Case Manager (CCM) accreditation from the Commission for Case Manager Certification (CCMC). CCMC certifies licensed clinical professionals who satisfy strict post-graduate education, licensure, experience and standards-of-practice requirements. Further, CCM candidates must pass the national certification examination.

Elder case managers are licensed social workers and nurses, who have extensive training and experience working with frail seniors and families who need assistance with care giving issues. They also assist families in the search for a suitable nursing home placement if the need occurs. The benefits of case management accrue to all participants in the process. For example, patients gain a savvy advocate and emotional support; physicians and hospitals have their most complex cases facilitated; and payors' costs are cut and benefits conserved while their clients are retained.

According to CCMC's CEO Susan Gilpin, "This diverse set of responsibilities requires that case managers possess a collaborative and partnering style and can successfully assess, plan, implement, coordinate, monitor, and evaluate the medical options and resources required to meet their patients' health care needs. It is essential that case managers are flexible and equipped through inclination, personality and training to fill a variety of roles including advocate, communicator, educator, and facilitator."

The Commission for Case Manager Certification (CCMC) is positioned as the most active and prestigious group supporting case management education and certification.
